The famous Shigeru Uchida Chair is designed as a stackablearm chair.

The backrest and seating is made out of unpolished Japanese oak wood. Using the wood not only expresses the unique beauty of the lines but also reflects Japanese aesthetic living defined through the beautiful gift of its grains. The legs and bottom frame are composed of steel pipes.

Designer's Profile:
Interior designer Shigeru Uchida is internationally recognized as one of the best Japanese designers

Born in Yokohama, Japan in 1943, Uchida graduated from Kuwasawa Design School and started his own firm, Uchida Design Institute in 1970. Later in 1981, he established Studio 80.

Japan's Uchida has been awarded major design awards including the Art Award by the Minister of Education of Japan.

His major works are:
RoRoppongi Wave building, series of boutiques for Yoji Yamamoto, the Japanese government Pavilion for Tsukuba Expo '85, lobby of the Kyoto Hotel, Hotel Il Palazzo in Fukuoka, Kobe Fashion Museum, the tea rooms 'Ji-an, So-an, Gyo-an', and the Mojiko Hotel.

His works are part of the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts, and the Denver Art Museum.
