The Monacca Business PC ECO Bag is made from natural wood from Japanese forests. It is a gorgeous and unique gift for any environmentally conscious person.
The beautiful bag was made with cedar thinning material from the Kochi Prefecture Umai village.
It is an ecological product which has contributed to decreasing the lumbering of the forest which is connected to terrestrial warming.
Seeking to develop applications for wood, industrial designer Takumi Shimamura delivers this unique briefcase made of ecological thinned Japanese cedar. Designed to accommodate laptops, the bag has sturdy canvas edges and interior, a handle with leather covering, double zippers, and inner pockets. Because of the wood material, each bag is hand stitched. It has a water repellent finish and is easy to clean with a damp cloth. The bag can fit up to a 17" Powerbook.
This bag was designed by Takumi Shimamura in 2003. Shimamura is known for his innovative use of thinned cedar as an alternative material in unexpected applications. The laptop bag is a perfect example of his commitment to environmentally friendly products as well as stylish options for the "treehuggers" among us.
The Monacca is so loved in Japan, that it was invited and exhibited at the Design Festival where appraisal (especially in foreign countries) is high. These include Milano Salone(Italy), Anbiente (Germany), and worldwide. In addition, the most famous design magazine "ID Magazine" introduced the Monacca extensively in the United States.
